Job Profile

Author Acquisition:

Coordinate with the Managing Editor to understand the requirements of type of author (professor/ professional/ organization/ single or multiple, etc.)  required for the planned Book                     

Shortlist prospective authors (professors, professionals, organizations) and have meaningful conversations with them to convince them to write textbooks in the priority areas

Negotiate the terms and conditions of IPR protection as well as  royalty pay-outs with authors and initiate the process of signing  contracts with them 

Other Author Coordination:

Follow up with Development Editors and Authors to ensure clarity of expectations and requirements from the manuscripts                     

Review sample chapters received from the author or coordinate with development editor to review the sample chapters                    

Coordinate with the Finance team to follow up on timely and accurate pay-outs of royalty to authors                

Maintain regular contact with authors, educating the author about the various aspects of publishing and the publishing timelines, and keeping them motivated to work on new manuscripts               

Interact with Authors for any other requirement that the team may have

Planning & Process Set up:
Maintain repository of authors on board with the group and track feedback on them based on past experience 
Identify potential authors for the Business and maintain a repository with details about their contacts/area of expertise/interest in writing, etc.             

Understand and keep abreast of developments in the relevant subject areas sufficiently to perform commissioning responsibilities efficiently and successfully             

Coordinate with Sales teams and other internal/external resources to gather information on the above - also attend industry networking events to capitalize on such opportunities                   

Assist the Editorial Manager/ Managing Editor in conducting market research for new and revised products including a detailed study of competition and collectin user feedback, as the case may be

Keep track of market trends and curricular changes by liasing curriculum developers and educational boards

Note: Any other additional responsibility could be assigned to the role holder from time to time as a standalone project or regular work. The same would be suitably represented in the Primary responsibilities and agreed between the incumbent and competent authority                    

Job Requirement


Location: Delhi (Head Office)
Relevant Experience: 5 + years
Min Qualification- Graduate/  Masters in subject (preferred for School Education; required for Higher Education)
