The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test or UGC NET is an examination for determining the eligibility of Indian nationals for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellow positions in Indian Universities and Colleges. UGC has authorized the State Governments to determine the eligibility for the position of Assistant Professor only.
