He passed out of Mysore University securing fourth rank and joined the department of collegiate education, and served as lecturer and professor in various colleges in Karnataka. He has attended various refresher courses in the country and has served as resource person in Karnataka Pre-university Board. In 1989, he has undertaken research on Karnataka Public Service Commission and has delivered lectures in District Training Centre in Hassan. From October 2005 to June 2007, served as the coordinator of the Political Science Department in the newly started Tumkuru University. He retired from service in 2011.
