This textbook has been designed to meet the needs of B.Sc. First Semester students of Botany as per Common Minimum Syllabus prescribed for Ranchi University and Colleges under the recommended National Education Policy 2020. It comprehensively covers the theory and practical papers, namely, 'Microbiology, Phycology and Mycology' and 'Diversity & Economic Importance of Microbes' respectively. The theory part of the text introduces the students to acquire conceptual knowledge of diversity, life forms, life cycles, morphology and importance of microorganisms. It also discusses the classification, characteristic features, cell structure and growth and reproduction in viruses, bacteria and their economic importance.
