This textbook has been designed to meet the needs of B.Sc. Fourth Semester students of Botany for the Ranchi University and other universities in Jharkhand under the recommended National Education Policy 2020. It comprehensively covers the theoretical and practical aspect of the papers, namely, 'MJ 6: Ecology and Environmental Studies', 'MJ 7: Plant Taxonomy & Economic Botany' and 'MJ 8: Practicals.'

The theory part of MJ 6: Ecology and Environmental Studies discusses the concepts and principles of ecology, biological diversity, conservation, sustainable development, population, community and ecosystem structure and function. The applications of these concepts will help the students to solve the environmental problems. This part also discusses the complex community patterns, processes, and ecosystem functioning. MJ 7: Plant Taxonomy & Economic Botany discusses the importance of bioresource utilisation and biodiversity management, as well as the nomenclature pattern, phylogeny and classification systems of plants. This book also helps the students to develop an understanding of the regional diversity in food crops and other plants and their ethnobotanical importance.
